Clarks Construction was appointed to deliver a full nursery remodel at St Margaret’s C of E School. The works focused on creating a modern, safe, and engaging early-years environment through a complete upgrade of both internal and external areas.

The project required careful coordination of specialist surveys, structural alterations, and building services upgrades. All works were completed by Clarks Construction, providing the client with a single point of responsibility and consistent quality throughout.

Project Scope

Clarks Construction delivered a comprehensive programme of works, including:

  • Asbestos survey and full external Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and CAT scanning
  • External demolition, strip-out, landscaping, excavations, and hardstanding works
  • DPC protection, fencing, and new gates
  • Installation of new external door sets and windows
  • New concrete edging, steps, and Part M compliant access features
  • ACO drainage and new tarmacadam pathways
  • Internal demolition and removal of existing services, fixtures, and fittings
  • Structural openings, alterations, wind posts, and lintels
  • New drainage connections and mechanical and electrical services
  • New flooring including vinyl, carpet, and barrier matting
  • New suspended ceiling grids and tiles throughout
  • Door infills, new door sets, and associated joinery
  • Hygienic wall cladding, new boxings, and sanitary fittings
  • Installation of a new nursery kitchenette
  • Full internal decoration to walls, ceilings, and woodwork

Challenges & Solutions

  • Complex pre-construction surveys: The project required asbestos, GPR, and CAT scans before works could safely begin. This was managed through early programming and close coordination with specialist survey teams.
  • Live school environment: Works were carefully phased and sequenced to maintain safety and minimise disruption to staff and pupils.
  • Integration of structural and services works: Experienced project management ensured smooth coordination between structural alterations and M&E installations.
